Teachings of the Twin Tyrants

Ancient Treasure. Desperate Refugees. An Undying Evil.

In Old Ataroth a starbound prophecy foretold the coming of an emperor who would bathe red the world in blood. Yet at the hour of the sacred birth came not one babe, but twins. That the doom may be fulfilled the two were sewn together, vein and sinew. Thus were born the Twin Tyrants.

The story of their reign was long, written in tears and ashes, and upon their death they were interred in the greatest mortuary temple yet seen in that age. They went to their sarcophagus holding ruby tablets, the graven epitome of their will and wisdom; the Teachings of the Twin Tyrants.

That was all long, long ago.  The tomb broods all but forgotten now on the edge of the desert. Still tended by its immortal clay priests, it has lain undisturbed…until now.

A few weeks ago a small caravan of escaped slaves took refuge within the ruins of the temple. There they await a desert guide who will escort them through the waste to freedom. But the guide who arrived is not as expected, and she demands the treasures of the temple as payment.

Who would be bold (or foolish) enough to delve the depths of the temple, and pry gold from the hands of the dead?
